It was a song of beginnings and endings, with a haunting melody that took the listener to pinnacles of joy and despair. It had been one of Calvar’s favourite songs.

For Calvar time meant nothing, he felt that he had been falling, falling in complete darkness. The whispers had risen to a crescendo of shouts, but he paid no heed, he was buried in nothingness He saw, felt, heard, thought, nothing. All was blank. Occasionally his mind would stir, but he would seek refuge in an avalanche of nothing immediately. His mind stirred again and again. His left hand felt itchy, he felt that he had a hand, but when he tried to scratch it, with his right hand he couldn't, it was making him angry and the noise of the voices were horrible, he sought refuge in nothingness again. His mind stirred again this time his left hand was itching furiously, unbearably so, he tried to scratch it, but could not. He began to rage endlessly at the itch on his left hand, furious beyond all measure. During a brief interlude of rage he noticed it was quiet, the voices had disappeared. He grasped at that space and he found that he was back looking at the bubbles of universes. The itch changed in nature, it began to feel like a touch, he allowed the fear, panic and anger to flow and pass through him, as Yun had taught him. Yun had often instructed Calvar that emotions such as pain, anger and fear were just in the mind. If they were acknowledged and let go, nothing of them would remain. Yun’s refrain had been “Let them pass through you.”
